Well it has been a while. I do have information and pictures to post relating to the Bacon line. Nellie Mae Thomas Swanson's mother's maiden name was Bacon. I recently had a chance to visit upstate New York where both the Bacon's and the Thomas' came from. My husband and I visited places where both families lived. We found gravesites of some our ancestors. It was a fantastic experience. We saw Rossie, McComb, Herman, Black Lake, Edwards, Russell and more. Rossie, where Timothy Houghton and Eliza Bacon are buried is a small town with no businesses. It may have been a bigger town 150 years ago. Timothy Houghton and Eliza are buried right inside of the far gate of the cemetery. Timothy's headstone is broken. It is interesting that their headstones spell their name Baken while their children buried around them use the spelling Bacon. I'm sure there is a story there. I have found another Timothy Bacon in the area about the same time. This may be why some censuses have our Timothy Bacon as Houghton Bacon. He may have used Houghton to cause less confusion in the area. I found alot of Thomas graves in the Black Lake (Cedars) Cemetery. I cannot trace them to our tree. The Thomas' came from Canada and it appears generations moved to Wisconsin and are buried here. I have stories of the some of the towns I have mentioned but none of our ancestors appear as the founding fathers. I will keep you updated.
